Comments:
Fairly
potent round. Accuracy on par with Prvi Partizan, but not quite to
Syrian levels... in MY rifle. YMMV.
This
stuff comes in grey boxes of 15 rounds on three stripper clips.
The
box has a brown stick-on label with extensive information (in French)
about the contents. I will try and have it translated ASAP.
The
back of the box has a label with what appears to be a picket fence
and the numeral '5'.
The
strippers were a bonus, the guy selling the stuff didn't mention it,
so I guess he didn't know (or care).
I have
tried a couple boxes of this in my MAS 49/56 with no problems or slamfires.

Comments:
This
stuff comes in white or gray paper boxes of 15 rounds. It is labeled
in arabic and appears to have been manufactured in 1957. I've heard
many complaints from people about misfires and such, but I've not
had any such problems. Sample size is only about 250 rounds, though.
YMMV.
I have
also tried this round in my MAS 49/56 with no difficulties or slamfires.

Comments:
This
stuff comes in white paper boxes of 20 rounds. It is labeled 7.5 mm
Ball and made by Prvi Partizan in Yugoslavia. It also claims to be
non-corrosive on the box, but there are reports of it having mildly
corrosive characteristics.
Pretty
good stuff, though.
This
ammo is also found in brown 15 round boxes. Labeled in French.
There
have been reports of this round producing slam-fires in the MAS 49/56
rifles. I have not been able to reproduce this behavior in my rifle.
All such rounds have functioned flawlessly. YMMV.
7.5
French MAS Case Forming
7.5
French can be formed from 6.5x55 Swedish as follows:
Replace
expander plug in your 7.5 French sizer die with a tapered version
of
same. These are available for an additional charge from Huntington's
(RCBS)
or
Lee where it comes with the die set. Others may have it as well.
Lube,
then size case. This expands the neck as well.
Trim
to 2.110".
If
no tapered expander plug is available, you can obtain usable brass
using
the
fire-forming method below.
The
following was posted to the rec.guns newsgroup some time in November
1996. It describes a process for making 7.5 MAS brass from 6.5 Swedish
brass. The original poster was "addesign@interaccess.com (Jeff)".
Trim
Remington 6.5x55 brass to 2.11", then fireform.
In
primed brass, about 8 grains of Bullseye.
Add
enough cotton or paper wadding to just cover the powder.
Tamp
it. Fill the case with corn meal (or Cream of Wheat), to the top.
Shake
it down, and add more cornmeal. Press parafin-wax into the case.
Cram
in as much as you can to make a firm plug.
NOTE:
while this isn't like a lead ball, whatever you point it at will
get a powerful wallop of wax. It may penetrate plywood at close
range.
Once
the cases are thus formed, you only need necksizing with a .308
die. 7.5x54 French fires a .308 bullet, so any available .308 will
do the job. I shoot 150gr Hornady with 42.0 grains of Hodgdon's
4895.
Caution
As
a personal aside here, I've found that the Remington (R-P) 6.5x55
brass is considerably undersized in the head/base area even for 6.5x55
let alone 7.5 MAS. This appears to cause a fair amount of bulge just
above the web area of the case upon firing full power loads formed
for 7.5 MAS. I have found that Lapua (Finland) brass does not appear
to have this problem.
