Book Description
"The American sniper could be regarded as the greatest all-around
rifleman the world has ever known. . . ."
At the start of the war in Vietnam, the United States had
no snipers; by the end of the war, Marine and army precision
marksmen had killed more than 10,000 NVA and VC soldiers--the
equivalent of an entire division--at the cost of under 20,000
bullets, proving that long-range shooters still had a place
in the battlefield. Now noted military historian Michael
Lee Lanning shows how U.S. snipers in Vietnam--combining
modern technology in weapons, ammunition, and telescopes--used
the experience and traditions of centuries of expert shooters
to perfect their craft.

Nice piece of work.
This is an especially good book for the novice and military
buff alike. Lanning takes the reader on a whirl-wind tour
of the history of accurate, long range military achievements,
but balances the technology with the human aspect. Good
book!

Excellent. The single most informative source available
This is about benchrest riifle shooting, and that's where
rifle accuracy grows. Mr. Newick's book addresses the
cutting edge technology needed to make little bitty holes
at range with five shots. The practices and principles,
clearly laid out, xan be used by anyone to improve the
performance of any rifle, but this is about going for
the ultimate.

This book provides a broad view about sniping in history
and today. The author takes the readers through the historical
accounts of snipers in the battlefield since 18 century,
as well as the basic principles evolved throughout these
experiences.
Unlike most of the books on this topic published in America,
this British writer does not limit himself to American's
view. In stead, he enumerates different views regarding
sniping from both sides in a armed conflict. The material
about the sniping in the East Front of WWII is probably
the most valuable ones in this book.
This is a must read for anyone who is intrested in sniper
and sniping.

This book is the most comprehensive collection of data
that pertains to the Military/Police Sniper. As a military
Sniper I found details about rifle usage and even cleaning
that just aren't taught to you in the US Army Sniper school.
This book has definately tightened my groups. Thank you
John Plaster!
