Manurhin_P1_L.jpg
Left side of a Manurhin marked, West German police, P1. Note the
Manurhin name and address, and the Manurhin trademark of the boxed
name "Manurhin" superimposed over a cogwheel. Note especially
the tell tale Walther dot-in-a-circle quality control marks visible
on the slide and frame. Manurhin marked P1's and P.38's were actually
made in Germany by Walther and trucked over the border to Manurhin
where they were assembled, proofed (mostly at the St. Etienne Proof
House), and marked "Manurhin" and "Made in France"
or simply "France."
Note also the "Berlin Sunburst" on the trigger guard,
signifying this was used as a West German Police pistol in Berlin.
Under the terms of the Four Powers Agreement no German produced
weapons could be used by the German police in Berlin, and Manurhin
marked P1's like this one satisfied the letter, if not the spirit,
of that agreement. |

Close up of the slide legend, showing the Manurhin name and address,
the model designation "Pistolet P1", the slide serial
number, and the chambering "9 mm x19." |

Close up of the locking block. Note the "Y3" marking.
The meaning of this mark is unknown (at least to me). |

Right side of the same P1. Note the St. Etienne proof. The crossed
cannon marking below the St. Etienne proof is a Portuguese proof,
indicating this slide was originally manufactured for a Portuguese
contract. |
