History:
After the Second World War the massive arrival in body of troop of MAS 36, a bolt weapon, arrives well late whereas the USA are already equipped with a semi-automatic rifle since 1936. A modernization of MAS 36 intervenes in the Fifties with the adoption of the MAS 36 LG 48 which integrates a grenade-launcher integrated. This grenade-launcher device will be used again by our engineers who will assemble it on MAS 44, the first French semi-automatic rifle adopted as of the end of the war. Thus modified MAS 44 is adopted in 1951 pennies the semi-automatic name of rifle of 7,5 mm MAS model 1949. It will jointly equip our troops with MAS 36-51 and a few years later the FSA 49-56 which will succeed to him gradually.
